No, the study conducted by the scientists was not unethical.
At first it was treated like an antique, or the remains of an extraterrestrial, and it was told that it was bought and sold many times ever since.
Good enough that the study was done, by doing so it was learned that it's a still birth which may have been the result of chemical elements present in the area because of mining, that were harmful to humans especially to pregnant women.

No, the study conducted by the scientists was not unethical. As it is stated, they had permission to do the study. That's their purpose to study & make research on the skeleton in order to understand it and with their study they were able to prove that it's a skeleton of a girl.
It's not unethical to study the skeleton at all. Because of the scientist's curiosity about it. They just proved to all that the skeleton found there should be treated as human corpse and not some kind of artifact of extraterrestrial thing. What scientist did was very ethical and righteous.
